A workshop for Community Leadership Basic Programme for members of Mukim and Kampung Consultative Council in the country is implemented as one of the Ministry of Home Affairs' medium term efforts in giving leadership knowledge and skills to the participants. Touching on the matter at the Workshop closing ceremony this afternoon, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Doktor Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Minister of Home Affairs expressed the hope that the leadership programme will be able to enhance the grass root leadership capacity in the Mukim and Kampung Consultative Council level to make it more stronger and effective. Yang Berhormat Pehin also hope that the programme will be able to identify the participants' potential who will become the next head village.
33 new members of the Mukim and Kampung Consultative Council throughout the country attended the workshop which began in May last year. Some of the participants are still working with various government agencies, self-employed and some have already retired. The workshop was one of the Ministry of Home Affairs' efforts in tackling the issue of vacancies in the post of Mukim Penghulus and head village nationwide. Also present were Awang Ajman bin Haji Meludin, Acting Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs and Awang Shamsul Bahrin Bin Hj Mohd Hussain, Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry. The ceremony took place at the Institute for Leadership, Innovation and Advancement, ILIA of Universiti Brunei Darussalam.
