Contraband Seized

Two local men were detained by local law enforcement personnel for further investigation after being found to have violated the country’s law enforcement acts.

The men, aged 29 and 55 were detained for an offence of attempting to smuggle and on possession of 2,784 cans of alcoholic drinks of various brands; 696 bottles of alcoholic drinks of various brands; 100 cartons of cigarettes of various brands; cash amounting to one hundred and sixty-two dollars and 41 Malaysian ringgit. Also seized were a boat and engine as well as a mobile phone believed to be used for smuggling activities.

The men were arrested during the Joint Operation carried out in the Brunei Bay namely Ujung Sapuh, Pulau Muara Besar and Serasa. The operation involved officers from the Royal Customs and Excise Department, through the Law Enforcement Division; the Marine Police, Royal Brunei Police Force; the Royal Brunei Armed Forces and the Narcotics Control Bureau.
