The Ministry of Health is currently carrying out an outsourcing project, specifically on the management of pharmaceuticals and medical consumable items supply chain. This includes procurement, management and logistics of pharmaceutical and medical consumables delivery services from the State Medical Store to hospitals, clinics and health centres in phases. The project is meant to will enhance quality and efficacy in management of the pharmaceuticals supply chain in a continuous manner as well as help the Government to save and increase public confidence in the long term. It will also provide employment opportunities to job seekers in certain areas within the supply chain. Outsourcing the service, enables the Ministry of Health to focus more on its role in providing efficient and high quality health services in Brunei Darussalam.
In this regard, yesterday morning, a Contract Agreement Signing Ceremony was held for the out-sourcing of management of pharmaceuticals and medical consumable items supply chain project between the Ministry of Health and the Royal Brunei Technical Services Sendirian Berhad, RBTS. The signing was witnessed by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Mohammad Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister of Health; Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy and Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Deputy Minister of Finance for Fiscal, Ministry of Finance and Economy as the Chairman of RBTS. Signing on behalf of the Ministry of Health was Awang Haji Maswadi bin Haji Mohsin, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Policy and Management. While RBTS was represented by its Senior Chief Administrative Officer, Dayang Hajah Rapiah binti Haji Mat Daud.
