A Bangladeshi national, Milon bin Mohammad Kalu Mondol, was once again brought before the Bandar Seri Begawan's Magistrates court for an offence under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Investigation conducted by the Anti-Corruption Bureau revealed that on 22nd July this year at the old Tamu Kianggeh area, Milon corruptly offered a Royal Brunei Police Force personnel a sum of one hundred dollars as an inducement for the said police personnel to refrain from taking action against Milon for purportedly committing an offence under the Tobacco Order 2005. The charge was previously read to the defendant on 13th August 2019, to which the defendant plead not guilty. The court had fixed the trial dates on 23rd to 26th of next month. In the meantime, the defendant is remanded at Maraburong Prison awaiting trial dates.
