Develop and Promote Tourism Products

For the Tourism Sector, the Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism also shared the initiative towards developing and promote tourism products which will continue to be carried out with the cooperation of relevant ministries and other stakeholders.

Yang Berhormat said that in the Temburong District, the bridge connecting Temburong with Brunei Muara District is expected to be completed by the end of this year. The Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism has also made preparations to welcome the expected increase in the number of tourists to the district, in the form of diversifying the district's tourism products so that it is not only focused at the Ulu Temburong National Park. In developing the Batang Duri and Sungai Labu areas, it is hoped to increase the number of accommodation facilities and activities related to nature such as jungle trekking. Apart from that, the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism is also collaborating with tour agencies and village residents to promote the village products. This includes homestay facilities at Kampong Belais and by offering fishing activities at the river's bank. On employment, the Agriculture and Agrifood sector has provided 8-thousand 293 jobs with 43 percent filled by locals. The Fisheries sector has also opened up 3-thousand 235 job opportunities with 66 percent filled by locals and the Forestry Sector, 765 jobs with 22 percent filled by locals while the tourism sector has 3-thousand and 37 job opportunities with 71 percent of them filled by locals.
