Dialogue Session with Young Professionals

Youths are not only the future leaders of the country, but they are also the current leaders. Thus, since the youth community will be the group that will lead the country in achieving Wasawan Brunei 2035, the whole community needs to ensure that they are guided and taken seriously. The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports shared the matter during the Dialogue Session with Young Professionals held virtually, yesterday. Yang Berhormat Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin added, exchanging views with the youths through the various platforms currently available, is one of the ways for the voices of the youths to be heard.

The dialogue session also identified some of the challenges of young professionals, including reluctance to change with the times among office heads; lack of a conducive work culture; lack of opportunities for self-development and lack of self-confidence. More than 250 youths comprising young professionals from the public and private sectors participated in the dialogue session, aimed towards introducing the National Youth Policy and Strategy 2020 to 2035 to the youths, as well as to get input from young professionals for national development and human capital. Participants also had the opportunity to discuss on Career Advancement, Skills Gap and Personal Finance.

The dialogue was organised by the National Youth Policy and Strategy, DBNS, Youth Advisory Group, YAG in collaboration with the Brunei Youth Council, with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and Young Professionals Network, YPN. Also participating was a Member of the Legislative Council.
