His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al- Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di- Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam held a bilateral meeting with His Excellency Shinzo Abe, the Prime Minister of Japan. The bilateral meeting was held yesterday at the State Guest House in Tokyo.
Accompanying His Majesty was His Majesty's son, His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen. Upon arrival at the State Guest House, His Majesty was greeted by His Excellency Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister of Japan. Accompanying His Excellency the Prime Minister of Japan at the meeting were His Excellency Naoki Okada, Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary; His Excellency Eiichi Hasegawa, Special Advisor to the Prime Minister and Cabinet Public Relations Secretary; Mr. Hayashi Hajime, Assistant Chief Cabinet Secretary; and Mr. Takeo Mori, Senior Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs. Also present during the meeting were Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy; Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan Bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof, Second Minister of Foreign Affairs; His Excellency Awang Haji Shahbudin bin Haji Musa, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brunei Darussalam to Japan; Awang Mohd Riza bin Dato Paduka Haji Md Yunos, Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office; and Pengiran Norhashimah Binti Pengiran Mohd Hassan, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Politics at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
At the meeting, both leaders reaffirmed the close ties and friendship between Brunei Darussalam and Japan that have long existed, while exchanging views and discussed on regional and international issues specifically in enhancing cooperation in the field of trade; and the ASEAN cooperation. Before departing the State Guest House, His Majesty proceeded for a group photo.
