Further improving teacher's quality especially in facing the Four Point Zero revolution era which is expected to make a huge impact on all life aspects including education is the priority of the Ministry of Education yesterday. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman, Minister of Education made the speech while chairing the Discussion session between the Ministry of Education and members of the Legislative Council this morning. Yang Berhormat stressed that teachers need to be equipped with the ability to teach students new skills needed to face new era challenges.
Yang Berhormat in his speech said that the in the diverse challenges today, quality of teachers is the priority of the Ministry of Education today. This is because the key to an excellent education system is the quality of the teachers themselves. An excellent teacher will give way to an excellent education and in turn to the development of a nation. Such teachers can produce a generation that has a high self-esteem and strength, in line with the development to come, even more so for the Four Point Zero revolution era. The types of employment today will disappear and replaced with jobs that are not yet known, especially with the existence of sophisticated digital technology, internet of things, artificial intelligence and smart robots. Therefore, Yang Berhormat said, it is important for the people to prepare the current generation with needed skills that have self-value. The country's teachers must also be prepared with the ability to teach new skills that are needed.
The Minister of Education also shared that the ministry and Universiti Brunei Darussalam is in the process of reviewing selection and recruitment methods for teachers aside from taking a closer look at other aspects such as professional development mentoring, career paths, leadership and pedagogy aimed at further improving teaching quality in the country. Yang Berhormat also touched on a number of strategies and initiatives that have and is currently being implemented by the ministry. Such strategies and initiatives cover all levels from primary, secondary, post-secondary, vocational and technical education as well as higher education. All this is aimed at producing a knowledgeable human model, who is skilled and civilised in line with the ministry's vision which is Quality Education, Dynamic nation as well as its mission, Providing Holistic Education to Achieve Full Potential For All.
The discussion session also aimed to openly share information, issues, and proposals that will benefit the Ministry of Education in its efforts to further enhance the quality of education in the country. Also present was Datin Seri Paduka Dr. Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh, Deputy Minister of Education.
