Discussions between the Ministry of Home Affairs and leaders at the grassroot level are intended at further improving relations, understanding and cooperation between the two sides. The Minister of Home Affairs, in his speech at the meeting session with the grassroot leaders in the Belait District, said that the discussion session was a continuation and adds value to the District Officer and Village Chief's Meeting to discuss matters of mutual interest.
Apart from that, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Doktor Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong added that the discussion revolved on constructive proposals, studied problems and issues at the kampong, mukim and district levels, in order to maintain harmony, well-being and security of the residents in the Belait District. Yesterday's discussion was among several such meetings held with Mukim Penghulu and Village Chiefs throughout the country. The first discussion session was held in the Temburong District last Saturday and will later be held in the Tutong and Brunei Muara Districts. Among those attending today's meeting were Members of the Legislative Council - Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Abdul Hamid bin Haji Mumin who is also the Penghulu of Mukim Liang and Yang Berhormat Awang Hanapi bin Mohamad Siput, the Acting Penghulu of Mukim Labi. Also present were Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohammad Yusof, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs and Deputy Permanent Secretaries at the Ministry, the Belait District Officer as well as Senior Officers of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
