In conjunction with World Earth Day that falls every end of March, the Tutong District will conduct Tutong Earth Hour today. The event will take place in the Parking Area of the Tutong River Jetty, starting at 8 in the evening.
This was stated by Awang Muhammad Amir bin Haji Umarali, Chief Executive Officer of the Tutong District Tourism Coordinating and Promotion Body, as Co-Assistant Secretary of the Tutong Earth Hour, in an interview with RTB, in disseminating information on the event.
Among the highlights of the Tutong Earth Hour are Lighting up the Light Cups en masse, Viewing Earth Hour Video and an Interactive Session. Several side events will also be held, including Creative Arts performance and exhibition by the Tutong District Active Zone Community and a Bazaar run by residents in the district. According to Awang Mohamad Amir, this year's event is the third such activity organised by the Tutong District, in support of the programme. He said that exactly at 8 O'clock, all electricity lights will be turned off simultaneously in several areas the Tutong district. At the same time over 500 light cups will be distributed for free among members of the public, who will spend the lights off hour viewing a video on Earth Hour.
Town, in front of the Tutong River Jetty Parking Area will be temporarily closed from 6 pm until the event ends. Members of the public are welcome to the event in together enlivening and supporting Earth Hour to raise awareness on global climate change through energy efficiency.
