Doa Kesyukuran in Conjunction with Commemoration of the 49th Anniversary of Brunei Town Name Change

In conjunction with the Commemoration of the 49th Anniversary of the Name Change from Brunei Town to Bandar Seri Begawan, yesterday afternoon was held a reading of Surah Yaasiin, Ratib Al-Attas and Doa Kesyukuran. The function was held at the Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque in the capital.

Present was Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin Bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs as the Acting Minister of Home Affairs. The function began with the reading of Surah Yaasiin and Ratib Al-Attas led by Awang Mohd Hasnal bin Haji Mohamad, the Imam of the mosque, followed by the reading of doa kesyukuran. Also present were Members of the Legislative Council, Permanent Secretaries and Deputy Permanent Secretaries at the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The capital's name of Brunei Town was changed to Bandar Seri Begawan on the 4th of October 1970. Throughput the period, various rapid developments and progress specifically in Bandar Seri Begawan have been achieved in various aspects such as infrastructure, communications, religious, education, economy, well-being, business, security, social and others.
