Performing the Haj is not to be taken lightly or considered simple. It requires attention to detail and sensitivity because the situation and challenges faced while performing the pilgrimage is often unexpected in nature. Therefore, it is essential to be prepared and equipped with the proper knowledge before embarking on the Haj. The preparations include mental, physical and spiritual strength. The matter was the highlight of a talk on "Preparations for the Holy Land" during the Doa Selamat ceremony for intending Haj pilgrims from the Ministry of Development and departments under it.
In attendance was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suhaimi bin Haji Gafar, the Minister of Development. The talk was delivered by Awang Haji Sammali bin Haji Adam, Director of Public Relations Centre and International Affairs of Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University, UNISSA. The intending pilgrims were also advised to give sadaqah or alms before performing the Haj, control their anger, avoid complaining in the face of difficulties and discomfort while in the Holy Land. Instead they should accept such things as tests towards achieving the Haj Mabrur or accepted Haj.
The Minister of Development handed over donations to 22 officers and staff of the Ministry who will perform the Haj. Also present was Awang Haji Marzuke bin Haji Mohsin, the Deputy Minister of Development.
