DST’S ‘Ihsan Kasih’ Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration with special needs children came to a close yesterday with over 2,500 invited guests gathering at the Plenary Hall of the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Berakas. DST’s Chief Executive Officer, Haji Suhaimi bin Haji Hussain attended as the guest of honour.
Some 1,400 special needs children from the Brunei-Muara District, an increase from 809 children last year, enjoyed the festivities with another 600 children from the remaining three districts.
Radin Sufri bin Radin Basiuni, Assistant General Manager of Group Corporate Communications said, “Ihsan Kasih is about reaching out to various communities in Brunei such as the less fortunate, orphans and special needs individuals, by organising initiatives that will create a positive impact in their daily lives. As a company we are fully supportive in contributing aid to support special needs individuals. Such contributions include our on-going contribution projects such as projects with the Special Education Unit.”
The event chairman, Haji Mohd Azmi Al-Amir bin Haji Ghazali, said it was a pleasure to be able to see the smiles of the children and their families.
“By organising these festivities and inviting representatives of centres – Learning Ladders, Pusat Bahagia, Pusat Ehsan, SMARTER and KACA – children, their parents and guardians, we have the opportunity to understand how we can continue to be involved in reaching out to the needs of the community.”
Children from the invited centres staged performances to enliven the event, which was made more entertaining with the presence of mascots who posed for photos with the children. Green packets and goodies were handed over by members of senior management.
