Efforts to Promote a Healthy Lifestyle

Over 71,000 participants are currently taking up the challenge to reach the ‘BN on the Move’ Campaign’s target of 20 Billion Steps Together at the end of this year. Since its launch last October, over 17 billion steps have been successfully achieved. The campaign launched by the Ministry of Health is one of the efforts to encourage people to practise a healthy lifestyle and stay active.

‘BN on the Move’ is one of the health management features available in the BruHealth application. It is also hoped to encourage people to carry out healthy activities in order to prevent or control non-communicable diseases. Throughout the campaign, participants of the Steps Together with ‘#BNonthemove’ can see their updated steps via the Bruhealth application.

Studies show that walking and physical activity can reduce body weight, improve glucose tolerance, and lower blood pressure. Meanwhile, a less active lifestyle is believed to have negative effects on the body including making the immune system not function properly, poor blood circulation, weak bones, loss of muscle strength and endurance as well as increased risk of disease.
