Emperor of Japan’s Birthday Reception

Japan will work together with other countries, including Brunei Darussalam, and lead international efforts at this year's Conference of the Parties or COP 26 and beyond, in order to realise a decarbonised world. This includes striving to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions to net-zero by 2050, that is, to realise a carbon-neutral society. This was among the matters stressed by His Excellency Eiji Yamamoto, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Brunei Darussalam on the occasion of the 61st birthday celebration of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan's Reception last night at Rizqun International Hotel, Gadong.

Representing the Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister of Health. In the speech, His Excellency highlighted on an association of Japanese companies called ahead, in their Demonstration Project, which successfully produced and transported hydrogen from Brunei to Japan. Touching on COVID-19, His Excellency said the response in Brunei Darussalam has been extremely effective even though the past year has been a difficult and challenging year for all.

Also held during the event was an exhibition from several Japanese companies that are active in the country.
