Employees Sick Leave Entitlement in the Private Sector, Selling Of Art Kits to the Public

The Ministry of Health also reminds members of the public who have obtained a positive ART result and close contacts to upload their test results and complete the self-triage survey in the BruHealth app.

In the meantime, the Ministry of Health also reminds private companies not to take advantage of employees who have been ordered to undergo quarantine during the COVID-19 outbreak in the country by imposing actions such as cutting salaries or terminating their employment. As informed by the Ministry of Home Affairs in an earlier media conference, the Employment Order, 2009 provides for an employee to obtain sick leave entitlement with full pay. The Government understands the difficulties faced by the private sector in facing the COVID-19 pandemic.

Employees and employers are advised to together shoulder the burden in a harmonious and deliberative atmosphere. Following public complaints about the limited sales of ART kits in the local market resulting in soaring market prices, the Ministry of Health is working with the Ministry of Finance and Economy to open up the sale of ART kits to the public. Further details on this matter will be made known to the public in the near future.
