His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office in a sabda stresses the importance of the people and villagers in glorifying the mosques. Attending prayers at the mosques, attending the various programmes including deepening knowledge in Al-Quran and other religious activities that bring benefits and awareness on the importance of giving endowments, according to His Royal Highness are advocated by Islam as investments for the Hereafter. All these His Royal Highness stresses are very beneficial for development and the well-being of the Ummah as well as a knowledgeable society.
His Royal Highness made the sabda at the opening of the Final of the National Musabaqah Al-Quran for Adults 1439 Hijrah/2018 at the Plenary Hall of the International Convention Centre in Berakas last tonight. In the sabda, His Royal Highness says by elevating Al-Quran and making it the guidance in life, the country will be able to produce true Muslim individuals, families, community and a nation faithful and loyal to Allah the Almighty. But to understand Al-Quran better, His Royal Highness adds, the Quran readers and the people in general should learn Arabic which is the language of Al-Quran.
Upon arrival, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince was greeted by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz bin Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar, Yang Dipertua Adat Istiadat Negara; Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Othman, the Minister of Religious Affairs as Chairman of the Major Islamic Events Celebration Executive Committee and Chairman of the National Musabaqah Al-Quran for Adults 1439 Hijrah/2018 Executive Committee; as well as other committee members. Also in attendance was His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Malik ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah.
The ceremony commenced with the reading of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Imam Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Hamid bin Bakal.
The Minister of Religious Affairs in his welcoming address among other matters outlined this year's format of the Musabaqah, whereby with the new age requirements, it has produced young and talented participants. With today's technological facilities, assisted by al-Quran programmes on social media, the efforts of His Majesty's government has boosted interest among teens to be involved in the field al-Quran tarannum. Yang berhormat Pehin said, verily, such a factor is among those that expedites the enhancement of the youth's skills who are interested and dedicated in honing their talents.
His Royal Highness in his sabda says by glorifying Al-Quran and making it as a guide in our life, we will be able to produce true muslim individuals, families, society and country that are loyal to Allah. His Royal Highness also expressed happiness that the Ministry of Religious Affairs through the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Tahfiz Al-Quran Institute has begun to conduct classes for tarannum Al-Quran reading.
Tonight's musabaqah saw the presentation of readings from two qaris and two qariahs. The event was highlighted with a reading by a young guest reader, Awang Muhammad Zahron Nasywa, champion of the Seleksi Tiwatil Al-Quran National at Tarakan Kalimantan Utara Anak-Anak. The musabaqah will continue tomorrow night with the presentation of readings from the other eight participants. This year's musabaqah carries the theme 'Al-Quran Sumber Kepimpinan Adil' or Al-Quran the Source of Just Leadership.
