His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office in a sabda says the Muslim ummah should play a bigger role in building the unity of the universal ummah besides being a source of inspiration and innovation of civilisation and cultural equality befitting the challenge of time that goes beyond spiritual guidance and education. His Royal Highness made the sabda at the opening of the Finals of the National Level Musabaqah Al-Quran for Adults 1442 Hijrah/2021, 8th June night. The ceremony was held at the International Convention Centre in Berakas.
Upon arrival, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince was greeted by Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs as the Chairman of the Musabaqah Executive Committee, as well as other committee members. Also in attendance were His Royal Highness the Crown Prince’s brothers, His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Malik and His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Mateen.
The ceremony began with the reading of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar.
The Minister of Religious Affairs, in his welcoming address, among others presented the progress of tilawah tarannum training programme which has produced numerous talented young qaris and qariahs.
In the sabda, His Royal Highness stresses that mankind must be responsible in ensuring the perpetuity of the environment so that any form of development enjoyed today will continue to be enjoyed and benefitted by future generations.
His Royal Highness in his sabda adds that in line with the aspiration to build a Zikir Nation, appreciation towards Al-Quran should be instilled towards teaching and spreading of Al-Quran tadabbur and tafsir or interpretation knowledge at all levels of society.
Six participants presented their readings on the first night. They were, Awang Abdul Mu’in bin Haji Abdul Hamid; Dayang Siti Zahrina bini Abdul Wahab; Haji Awang Mohd Fikri bin Haji Awang Metussin; Dayang Hajah Nurul Akmalina binti Haji Yahya; Awang Mohammad bin Ali; and Dayangku Siti Ummi Syazana binti Pengiran Haji Marjuki.
