Finals of National Musabaqah for Adults 1442 Hijrah/2021

The culmination of the Finals of the National Musabaqah Al-Quran for Adults 1442 Hijrah/2021 was the prize presentation ceremony. His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam presented the prizes.

Upon arrival at the International Convention Centre, His Majesty was greeted by Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs as Chairman of the Musabaqah Al-Quran for Adults 1442 Hijrah/2021 Executive Committee.

Also in attendance were His Majesty’s sons and brothers:

– His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office;

– His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik;

– His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen;

– His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah;

– His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah;

– And His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti.

In his welcoming speech, the Minister of Religious Affairs highlighted that the National Musabaqah Al-Quran for Adults became a part of important events in religious event schedules organised by the Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam. It is part of a landmark that highlights the special and important position of Islam as the country’s official religion.

In announcing the results, Awang Haji Abdul Rajid bin Haji Mohammad Salleh, Chief Judge of the Musabaqah said that the overall ranking of this year’s Qari and Qariah are at the same level, and categorised in the same group.

Awang Mohammad Zul-Hafiz bin Awang Tengah and Dayang Hajah Nurfaezah binti Haji Emran emerged as Qari and Qariah champions respectively.

His Majesty then presented prizes to the winners and participants of the Musabaqah. The Qari champion, Awang Mohammad Zul-Hafiz received a cash prize of 7 thousand dollars, the Challenge Trophy, Accompanying Trophy, Participation Certificate, Haj Package, a 10-gramme gold piece by Perbadanan Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei, TAIB and its subsidiaries, Insurans Islam TAIB Holdings Sendirian Berhad and Darussalam Holdings Sendirian Berhad; and a Brunei woven cloth donated by Syarikat Little Ummi.

Meanwhile, runner up Awang Mohammad bin Ali received a 5 thousand dollar cash prize, accompanying trophy, Participation Certificate, and a 5-gramme gold piece by Perbadanan Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei, TAIB and its subsidiaries, Insurans Islam TAIB Holdings Sendirian Berhad and Darussalam Holdings Sendirian Berhad.

Awang Haji Nasrul Fakhri bin Haji Yahya who came in third, received a cash prize of 3 thousand dollars, accompanying trophy, Participation Certificate, and a 5-gramme gold piece by Perbadanan Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei, TAIB and its subsidiaries, Insurans Islam TAIB Holdings Sendirian Berhad and Darussalam Holdings Sendirian Berhad.

Meanwhile, Qariah champion, Dayang Hajah Nurfaezah received a cash prize of 7 thousand dollars, the Challenge Trophy, accompanying Trophy, Participation Certificate, a 10-gramme gold piece by Perbadanan Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei, TAIB and its subsidiaries, Insurans Islam TAIB Holdings Sendirian Berhad and Darussalam Holdings Sendirian Berhad; and a Brunei woven cloth donated by Syarikat Little Ummi.

Qariah runner-up, Dayangku Fauziah Nadhirah binti Pengiran Haji Jofri received 5 thousand dollars cash prize, an accompanying trophy, Participation Certificate, and a 5-gramme gold piece by Perbadanan Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei, TAIB and its subsidiaries, Insurans Islam TAIB Holdings Sendirian Berhad and Darussalam Holdings Sendirian Berhad.

Dayangku Siti Ummi Syazana binti Pengiran Haji Marjuki in third received a cash prize amounting 3 thousand dollars, accompanying trophy, Participation Certificate, and a 5-gramme gold piece by Perbadanan Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei, TAIB and its subsidiaries, Insurans Islam TAIB Holdings Sendirian Berhad and Darussalam Holdings Sendirian Berhad.

His Majesty also presented souvenirs to the Musabaqah judges. This time, the panel of judges was joined by a female judge, namely Dayang Hajah Siti Noor Dzuhairah binti Haji Awang Damit, one of the country’s Qariahs who has made a name for herself on the international stage.

The reading of Doa Selamat was led by the State Mufti.

The Musabaqah Al-Quran for Adults organised annually by the Ministry of Religious Affairs is a very benevolent practise, in which every person can together listen to the Quranic verses read. It is one of the zikir practises, in line with the country’s aspiration in realising the Zikir Nation.
