The first group of 254 Brunei Darussalam intending pilgrims left for Madinah al-Munawarah in Saudi Arabia at around 2.56 this afternoon. The Royal Brunei aircraft BI4201 carrying them was scheduled to reach the holy city at about 7.36 pm Madinah time.
Relatives and friends crowded the Brunei International Airport to bid farewell, arriving as early as eleven in the morning. The first Haj flight included Haj Medical Officers, Officers of Syarikat Darussalam Holdings Sendirian Berhad and Syarikat Straits Central Agencies Sendirian Berhad.
Before leaving the country, the intending pilgrims performed the mass Zuhur prayer. Doa Selamat was read by Yang Dimuliakan Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Haji Suhaili bin Haji Metali Al-Hafiz.
Leading the farewell party at the Brunei International Airport was Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Othman, the Minister of Religious Affairs, Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja (Retired) Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Md Yussof, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports as the Chairman of Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei (TAIB) Board of Directors, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doktor Awang Haji Zulkarnain bin Haji Hanafi, the Minister of Health, His Excellency Hisham bin Abdul Wahab bin Zar'ah, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Saudi Arabia to Brunei Darussalam, Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohamad Daud, the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs, Dato Paduka Seri Haji Mohd Jammy (JIMI) bin Haji Muhd. Shah Al Islam, the Commissioner of Police and Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Yussof, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
The second Haj flight, BI4203 is scheduled to depart at 5.32 tomorrow afternoon. The doa or supplication for the intending pilgrims, is to seek blessings so that their haj run smoothly and be accepted by Allah the Almighty.
