Eight personnel of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces and an officer from the Royal Brunei Police Force will participate in the Brunei Darussalam 16th contingent of the International Monitoring Team in Mindanao. Meanwhile 30 personals of the RBAF will join the Malaysian Battalion 850-7 or MALBATT 850-7 to the United Nations Interim Forces in Lebanon, UNIFIL. A flag handover ceremony was held at the Bolkiah Garrison yesterday morning.
It was handed over by Major General Pengiran Dato Paduka Seri Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, Commander of RBAF.
At this ceremony, Commander of RBAF also presented the I.M.T badges to the 16th Brunei Darussalam contingent to Mindanao. The contingent led by Lieutenant Colonel Abdul Mutalip bin Bujang departed for The Philippines yesterday.
Meanwhile, the UNIFIL deployment led by Major Mohd Hishamuddin bin Haji Marzoki will leave the country this Sunday.
Earlier, the reading of Surah Yassin and Doa Selamat was held at Ad'Difa Surau in Bolkiah Garrison. Brunei Darussalam first joined the International Monitoring Team in Mindanao since 2004 and the United Nations Interim Forces in Lebanon, UNIFIL since 2008. The missions have provided a lot of valuable operating experiences to personnels of Royal Brunei Armed Forces and Royal Brunei Police Force. Also present was Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Mohammad Irwan bin Haji Hambali, Commissioner of the Royal Brunei Police Force.
