Flood Situation

Following the recent continuous heavy rains, several areas in the rural of Tutong District have been flooded. The water level of the river has overflowed into the areas of Kampung Benutan, Kampung Rambai, Kampung Kuala Ungar/Bangkuru as well as parts of Kampung Panchong and Kampung Layong causing several houses to be inundated and several roads made impassable for saloon cars and four-wheel drives.

 

Water level monitoring in areas that are often affected throughout the country has been carried out since the heavy rains began in early October 2022, with Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Minister of Home Affairs, visiting areas affected by floods in Tutong District. Various agencies including Penghulu Mukim and Village Heads are always on standby to ensure that the situation in the affected areas is under control. The Fire and Rescue Department continuously monitors the water level in the affected areas in Jalan Benutan with an MPV vehicle and a fire boat. The Second Battalion of the Royal Brunei Land Force, Royal Brunei Armed Forces also provided vehicles at several affected road areas. The Royal Brunei Police Force also regularly conducts patrols in affected areas and installed warning signs. The distribution of rations from the Department of Tutong Community Development, JAPEM was also carried out.
