As the country's foremost university, Universiti Brunei Darussalam, UBD aspires to empower holistic and well-rounded leaders through innovative education and enterprising research. The UBD Vice Chancellor's address highlighted it is driven by national aspirations and guided by the values of Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB) concept. The speech was delivered yesterday morning during the Official Opening of UBD's Freshers Week for January 2020 Intake by Dayang Hajah Rubiah binti Haji Yacub, Acting UBD Vice Chancellor. The ceremony took place at the Chancellor's Hall.
The address then stressed that the learning process at UBD will be guided by 3 principles, namely innovation and entrepreneurship, industry relevant skills and a passion for lifelong learning.
The Vice Chancellor's address also touched on the feedback system or 'E-help' which was introduced last October as a platform to communicate the students' expectations, close gaps between performances, assess quality and set forward-thinking criteria. 436 students are beginning their studies in the second intake of the academic year 2019/2020. They include 29 Doctor of Philosophy or PhD and 140 Masters Students. The 4-day Freshers Week is aimed at providing the students with information on academic and non-academic affairs offered by the UBD.
