Nearly 15 thousand people attended the Get-Together and Junjung Ziarah ceremony in the Brunei Muara District. Their presence was a manifestation of their love and gratitude towards His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam for the peace and harmony that the nation has long enjoyed throughout His Majesty’s reign. His Majesty received Junjung ziarah from members of the Executive Committee of Governors, Celebration Committees, Penghulu Mukim, Village Chiefs, non-government organisations, the private sector as well as citizens and residents in the Brunei Muara District.
Over 90 camps were provided for the public to take part in the Junjung ziarah ceremony. Accompanying His Majesty were His Majesty’s sons and brothers;
– His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office;
– His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik;
– His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen;
– His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah; and
– His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah.
The Brunei Muara District is the smallest district with an area of 571 kilometres square, and has a total population of nearly 300 thousand people as of last year. Over 11 thousand 700 citizens and residents from 17 mukims made up the largest number of people attending the ceremony. The harmonious atmosphere during the Get-Together and Junjung Ziarah illustrated the strength of a community that was built through a monarchical institution’s leadership.
Uniformed organisations also did not miss the opportunity to express their gratitude and birthday greetings towards His Majesty. 900 personnel and members of uniformed organisations were involved in the ceremony, comprising army and police cadets, Scouts associations, Girl Guides and the Red Crescent.
His Majesty also received Junjung Ziarah from the celebration committees that have organised sports, community and religious activities. Among the activities lined up for the festivity include the Silat Cakak Championship, performances by schools, colleges and higher education institutions, as well as the Festive Stage Performance.
His Majesty who is always ready to “walk and cross the field” to meet the people should be made an example. This is because a just and trustworthy leader is a leader who is willing to go through great lengths to guide the people and the nation.
Non-government organisations and those who contribute towards the country’s economy also did not miss the golden opportunity to meet and greet His Majesty. The atmosphere was further enlivened with a performance by the Tiong Hwa community.
The presence of citizens and residents in the country at the ceremony was a manifestation of their continuous support and preparedness to uphold His Majesty’s leadership and aspiration in leading the government and the nation.
A group of administrative officers were also among those who attended the Junjung Ziarah ceremony. The group is a working committee that play a vital role in ensuring that the nation’s development and management efficacy can be implemented in line with the Wawasan Brunei 2035.
Students who have studies overseas also did not muss the opportunity for the Junjung ziarah. They are among the continuing generation that has a role and responsibility to together assist and ensure that that nation continues to enjoy prosperity, development and remain sustainable in all aspects. The government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam through the Ministry of Education continues to give attention towards education with the aim to produce generations that are highly educated, visionary, creative, innovative, responsible and capable of leading the nation to a higher level.
The close ties between His Majesty and the people without protocol made the ceremony an oral tradition for years to come. The leadership and personality of His Majesty who is always concern for the people’s problems made His Majesty widely known as the people’s Monarch.
His Majesty and other members of the Royal Family ended yesterday’s visit with a Luncheon at Dewan Persantapan Lapau. During this event, His Majesty cut the Royal Birthday Cake. Doa selamat was read by Awang Haji Sahrin bin Haji Kadih, the Brunei Darussalam Lower Shari’ah Court Judge.
Before leaving the ceremony, His Majesty and the members of the Royal Family received the Junjung Ziarah from His Majesty’s Birthday Day Celebration Executive Committee members. Since the country gained full independence, the country has achieved numerous achievements that the citizens and residents in the country have enjoyed. His Majesty’s continuous efforts has brought the country peace and prosperity that can be enjoyed by future generations to come, and this has earned great respect from the country’s citizens and residents.
