Gema Nasyid Acoustic Competition

Youth development as the next generation need to be prepared with high self-competency in order to defend their current capability and skills. Towards this, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports urged for youths to be prepared mentally, physically and spiritually to ensure their capability in together developing the country, in line with the desires of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam. Yang Berhormat Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin stressed upon the matter at the final of the Gema Nasyid Acoustic Competition in conjunction with His Majesty's 72nd birthday celebration. The competition was held last night at the Kuala Belait Convention Hall.

The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports said the competition is hoped to act as a platform and inspiration for youths to be more active in various activities leaning towards the community and religion. This effort will generate unity which will mutually strengthen one another and instil high quality characteristics in line with this year's 13th National Youth Day theme which is Youth, Drivers of a Progressive Brunei.

6 groups took part in the competition which among other matters aimed to hone the talents of youths in dakwah through entertainment via singing and Islamic musical instruments. Kuala Belait's Kampung Pekan Consultative Council with the cooperation of the Belait District Office organised the competition.

'The Fitrah' group emerged champions while Firqah Amaturrahman and Iklillah groups took second and third respectively. Among those present was Yang Berhormat Awang Hanapi bin Mohd Siput, member of the Legislative Council.
