General Meeting of Brunei Darussalam Photographic Society

A photographic image or a photograph is a medium of communications in visual arts related to artistic value and aesthetics. In line with the ever increasing development of the arts and photographic technology, the role of photography is becoming more relevant and vital particularly in supporting the efforts of the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism to promote places of interest and events abroad and turning the country into a major and unique tourist destination. This was voiced by the Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism at the official opening of the 36th General Meeting of the Brunei Darussalam Photographic Society at the Youth Centre in Bandar Seri Begawan.

Awang Wardi bin Haji Mohammad Ali believed the country's photographic society which is going to be fifty years old soon would remain relevant in the face of rapid and sophisticated development such as the use of digital photography. The Deputy Permanent Secretary added the society should increase cooperation with government agencies and the appropriate parties as well as further developing its role and grabbing available opportunities using the existing platform.

The biennial activity continued with the presentation of the Fellowship of Brunei Photographic Society FBPS to Awang Murni bin Awang Haji Mahali who was also the winner of the Best Photographer of The Year 2017 Award. Also receiving certificates of appreciation were members of the 2016-2017 Executive Committee.
