Gifts Presentation

The 1st of Muharram 1440 Hijrah recorded the births of 19 babies in the country. Majority of the birth were recorded in Brunei Muara District, with 16 babies born at the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Hospital in the capital. To express gratitude towards Allah the Almighty for the births of the babies on the auspicious day as well as to glorify the beginning of the new Hijrah Year, a ceremony was held yesterday morning to present gifts to the new-born babies.

Present to hand over the gifts were Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs and Datin; Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja (Retired)Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Second Minister of Defence as Acting Minister of Health and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Perbadanan Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei (TAIB) and Datin; Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs and Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Yussof, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

Each baby received essentials for baby worth 200 dollars as well as religious books from the Ministry of Religious Affairs; a Si-Manja Savings account of 200 dollars and babies' essentials worth 50 dollars from Perbadanan TAIB; a 250-dollar Takaful Nur savings and voucher from Syarikat Takaful Brunei Darussalam Sendirian Berhad.

Meanwhile, two births were recorded at the Suri Seri Begawan Hospital in Kuala Belait. Present to hand over the gifts was Awang Haji Abdul Manap bin Othman, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health, and wife.

Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah Hospital in Tutong recorded the birth of a baby girl. The gifts were presented by Awang Walid bin Haji Metasan, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs and wife. No birth was recorded at the Pengiran Isteri Hajah Mariam Hospital in Temburong District.
