Gross Output Records Positive Growth

This was followed by Members of the Legislative Council approving the allocation for the Ministry of Education. The session then heard the opening remarks for the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism's budget allocation. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Apong, Minster of Primary Resources and Tourism among others shared on the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism's achievements in the agriculture, fisheries, forestry and tourism sectors throughout last year.

Yang Berhormat said there is no doubt the COVID-19 pandemic that hit the country since early 2020 had an impact on the efficacy and smooth operation of businesses and farming for several farmers. Among them was issues pertaining to bringing in foreign workers such as labourers aside from issues related to importing farming goods such as seeds, fertilisers and others. However, through a number of initiatives implemented by the ministry and strong support from all parties in particular entrepreneurs, farmers, and fisherman, the overall performance of gross output from primary resource industries recorded positive increase in 2021 compared to 2020.
