The government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam is always concerned towards the welfare and needs of Persons with Disabilities, OBK. Various facilities are provided by the government to assist the OBK gain suitable academic education.
Guidance and basic training skills are also provided to enable them to contribute to the country and community.
In Temburong District, a total of 14 students from Pusat Bahagia are divided into 3 classes namely, guidance class for OBK children aged 7 until 17 years; work training centre for OBK aged 18 years and industrial training programme that prepares trainees for work placements according to their abilities. Awang Md Zain bin Haji Muhammad, Pusat Bahagia Trainer told RTB on what is taught and also the activities participated by the students in the centre. He said the activities taught at the centre include self-assistance, life, communications and social skills as well as basic academic skills such as writing, arithmetic and reading as well as religion and sports. Farm products and handicrafts also generate income for the centre. Awang Md Zain added the centre welcomes assistance and contributions from the government, individuals, NGOs, and private companies.
