Residents of Kampung Kulapis and the surrounding areas will be able to perform the daily and Friday prayers at the village's new mosque soon. With the fasting month of Ramadhan rapidly nearing, the mosque will certainly provide comfort and ease to the congregants when they perform Tarawih prayers and other religious activities during the holy month. The handover of Kampung Kulapis mosque as an endowment took place yesterday when the donators' family presented the key to the Brunei Islamic Religious Council, MUIB as the sole trustee and recipient of all endowments, including mosques in the country.
Receiving the endowment on behalf of MUIB was Dato Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs as the Vice Yang Dipertua of MUIB. The contribution was then handed over to Awang Haji Amir Hisham bin Haji Masri, the Acting Director of Mosque Affairs. Also present were Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Mohd Yussof, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Awang Haji Harun bin Haji Junid and Awang Roslan bin Haji Tajaah, the Deputy Permanent Secretaries at the Ministry. The new Kampung Kulapis Mosque was donated by the family as a symbol of their affection and memory towards Kampung Kulapis. The house of worship can accommodate about seven hundred people.
