Hari Raya Aidil Adha Celebration

At Istana Nurul Iman, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam graced the sunat rites of sacrifice ceremony and Hari Raya Aidil Adha celebration. At the ceremony, His Majesty and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri presented the sacrificial meats to the special recipients.

Upon arrival, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri were greeted by the Co-Chairmen and members of the working committee for the Rites of Sacrifice for His Majesty and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri as well as His Majesty's family and the Hari Raya Aidil Adha Celebration at Istana Nurul Iman for this year.

Also in attendance were His Majesty's children, brother and sisters:

- His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah;

- His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik;

- His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Wakeel;

- His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah and Her Royal Highness Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Zariah;

- Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Rashidah Sa'adatul Bolkiah;

- Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Majeedah Nuurul Bolkiah;

- Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Hafizah Sururul Bolkiah;

- Her Royal Highness Princess Fadzilah Lubabul Bolkiah;

- Her Royal Highness Princess Ameerah Wardatul Bolkiah.

- Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, and

- Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Amal Umi Kalthum Al-Islam; as well as other members of the royal family.

The call of the Hari Raya Takbir of 'ALLAHU AKBAR', praising and glorifying the Greatness and Oneness of Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala resounded at Istana Nurul Iman shortly after the arrival of Their Majesties. The Hari Raya Takbir was presented by 120 officers and staff of Government Departments, Religious Teachers, undergraduates of higher education institutions, uniformed personnel, Youth groups, members of associations and NGO's.

The holy verses of Al-Quran from surah Al-Hajj verses 32 to 37 was read by Awang Haji Hazwan bin Haji Salim, Religious Education Officer at the Islamic Studies Department, who emerged Champion in the National Level Al-Quran Reading Competition for Youths 2018.

The translation of the verses was read by Awang Haji Muhammad Khairul Azhar bin Idris, Assistant Co-Curriculum and Text Book Officer at the Islamic Studies Department among others outlined that those who are truly faithful to Allah the Almighty are those who respect and glorify Islam and the religious deeds of haj and sacrificial rites.

His Majesty then presented the sacrificial meat to 50 special male recipients and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri presented the sacrificial meat to 50 special female recipients comprising the poor and destitute from the four districts. The Sunnat sacrificial rites performed every year by His Majesty and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri as well as the Royal Family reflects Their Majesties' generosity to those who are less fortunate.

The rites of sacrifice is one of the religious deeds loved by Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala and for every person that performs it is promised a multitude of rewards, among them by increasing the charitable deeds of the person performing the sacrificial rites. The Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration at Istana Nurul Iman is another of His Majesty's vision to make an example of the importance of glorifying the Islamic eminence and assimilation of the religion according to the Bruneian mould. It is a manifestation of gratitude towards Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala for enabling the country's citizens and residents to live in peace and harmony.

Doa selamat was read by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doktor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, State Mufti.

Some 6 thousand people attended the celebration which showed unity in together presenting the takbir glorifying Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala. They were represented by ministries, government departments, uniformed personnel, students of higher education institutions and religious schools, youth groups, associations and non-government organisations, NGOs.

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri then received junjung ziarah from the poor and destitute asnaf.

The presence of His Majesty and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri to the function portrays the monarch's care as the 'Ulul Amri to Muslims in the country in together glorifying the Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration as well as an encouragement to the Muslim ummah in the country to perform the rites of sacrifice.
