Senior citizens have a wealth of experience and knowledge that can be benefit the younger generation as guidance in life. Therefore, senior citizens are invaluable assets in contributing ideas and energy towards national development with the knowledge and experience that they have. The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports opined that the contributions made by senior citizens to the society are still needed.
Touching on the centre itself, Yang Berhormat expressed his confidence that it will become a benchmark and role model for associations in handling projects especially those involving senior citizens. Yang Berhormat believes that it is a forward step towards achieving the aspirations of Wawasan Brunei 20-35, which is to enhance the life quality of the country's citizens and residents.
Yang Berhormat Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin made the speech at the Hari Raya Aidil Fitri Get-Together Celebration which was also in conjunction with the First Anniversary of the Tutong Senior Citizens Activity Centre's establishment, this morning. The function was highlighted by a number of stage performances including hari raya songs and poetry declamations. Also present were Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Umarali bin Esung; Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Abdul Wahab bin Apong; and Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Ramli bin Haji Lahit, Members of the Legislative Council. Established a year ago, the centre which has more than 200 members has an active daily schedule that includes Al-Quran reading and Tausyeh, as well as various other projects.
