Healthy Restaurant Programme Encourages Healthy Menu Preparation

Access to less nutritious food is increasing throughout the world, and this contributes to the rise of obesity and non-communicable diseases. This includes food prepared by restaurants, cafes, food stalls and trucks as well as online food businesses.

Realising this, the Health Promotion Centre of the Ministry of Health launched the Pan and Wok Healthy Restaurant Programme at the said restaurant in Kampung Serusop. At the event, Pan and Wok Restaurant received an appreciation certificate for its efforts in providing healthy and nutritious food. Doctor Hajah Norhayati binti Haji Mohd kassim, Head of the Health Promotion Centre presented the certificate to Awang Muhammad Roderick bin Muhammad Roland, the restaurants General Manager. The programme encourages participating restaurants to provide healthy menu choices in moderate quantity and fulfil requests for less sugar, salt, fats and oil without affecting the food's taste and flavour. The programme also aims to create a conducive environment for the local market in supporting healthy food choices.
