Her Majesty the Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah binti Al-Marhum Al-Mutawakkil Alallah Sultan Iskandar Al-Haj had a separate itinerary yesterday morning with a visit to the Women's Institute, WI Headquarters at Bukit Bendera in Tutong District. Accompanying Her Majesty was Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Royal-in-Attendance.
Upon arrival, Her Majesty the Raja Permaisuri Agong was greeted by Yang Berhormat Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Awang Shamsul Bahrin bin Haji Mohd Hussain, Tutong District Officer and Dayang Hajah Samsiah binti Abd Latif, Acting President of WI. The visit by Her Majesty the Raja Permaisuri Agong reflected Her Majesty's caring attitude and intention to further enhance the existing relations with the country's people, especially WI members.
Brunei's unique traditional Malay food was showcased by WI members during Her Majesty's visit. Her Majesty tried Her Majesty's hand in making the traditional cake called penyaram and had the opportunity of tasting it.
Handicraft weaving using plastic materials was also demonstrated to Her Majesty. Her Majesty the Raja Permaisuri Agong also tried the handicraft weaving.
Her Majesty's visit will certainly boost the efforts and spirit of W-I members in the development of women, children, family and society not only in the country but also at the international level in general.
Her Majesty was also graciously invited to view an exhibition of activities carried out and planned by the Women's Institute.
Before leaving, Her Majesty the Raja Permaisuri Agong planted a durian tree in conjunction with Her Majesty's visit to the WI Headquarters.
