His Majesty Expresses the Hope UNISSA Acts as One of the Pillars to Defend and Protect Islam

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, in a titah expresses the hope for the Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University, UNISSA to be the pillar that protects or defends Islam. In this regard, His Majesty today gives consent that a site in Mukim Labu in the Temburong District be allocated as the site of UNISSA's permanent campus.

The Monarch also gives consent to a provision in the 11th National Development Plan for the construction of the campus. His Majesty expresses the hope the permanent campus will further raise the reputation of UNISSA and accomplish the country's desire to see it as a hub of higher Islamic studies in the region. His Majesty as the Chancellor of the university delivered the Titah during the 8th UNISSA Convocation Ceremony this morning. His Majesty says UNISSA was not meant only to increase the number of universities in the country but to provide higher Islamic education in its purest form. Hence, adds the Monarch, make sure UNISSA does not stray from its course.
