Bandar seri begawan: His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei Darussalam received His Excellency Peng Qinghua, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China, in an audience at Istana Nurul Iman. This meeting is part of His Excellency’s two-day working visit aimed at strengthening the relationship between the two nations.
According to Radio Television Brunei, the visit seeks to create opportunities for collaboration in areas such as inter-parliamentary relations. It also aims to establish a platform for exchanging views on matters of mutual interest, including legislative cooperation and people-to-people exchanges. This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to deepen the friendship between Brunei Darussalam and the People’s Republic of China.
His Excellency Peng Qinghua was accompanied by His Excellency Xiao Jianguo, China’s Ambassador to Brunei, and His Excellency Ma Hui, Vice Minister of the International Department, Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. Key Bruneian officials present included Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman, Speaker of the Legislative Council; Dato Seri Paduka Awang Mohammed Riza, Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; and Datin Paduka Doctor Dayang Hajah Huraini, Clerk to the Privy Council.
