His Majesty Royal Banquet

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in a Titah expresses great happiness that the close relations with Malaysia in various fields of cooperation have enabled the two countries to enjoy a continuous cooperation network in the interest of both parties. In the Titah, His Majesty says as Malay Archipelago countries Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia share civilisation, monarchical institution, culture, language and religion which have to be safeguarded and defended from being eroded by the influence of foreign socio-culture. The Monarch delivered the Titah during a Royal Banquet in honour of The State Visit of His Majesty the 16th Yang Di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia and Her Majesty the Raja Permaisuri Agong last night. The event took place at the Royal Banquet Hall, Istana Nurul Iman.

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam AND Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam welcomed His Majesty the 16th Yang Di-Pertuan Agong Malaysia, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta'in Billah, and Her Majesty the Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah binti Al-Marhum Al-Mutawakkil Alallah Sultan Iskandar Al-Haj.

Prior to the Royal Banquet, His Majesty and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri and His Majesty the 16th Yang Agong of Malaysia and Her Majesty the Raja Permaisuri Agong proceeded to the Royal Lounge. Maha Mulia Seri Paduka Baginda Present were His Majesty's sons, brothers, daughters, sisters and other members of the Royal family: -

- His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah;

- His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Raabi'atul 'Adawiyyah;

- His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Wakeel;

- His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah and Her Royal Highness Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Zariah;

- His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Bini Hajah Faizah;

- Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Norhayati;

- Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Rashidah Sa'adatul Bolkiah;

- Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Majeedah Nuurul Bolkiah;

- Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Hafizah Sururul Bolkiah;

and Her Royal Highness Princess Ameerah Wardatul Bolkiah.

Also present were Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Amal Umi Kalthum Al-Islam and Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Noor Ehsani.

Also present were Yang Amat Mulia Tengku Puteri Raja Tengku Puteri Afzan Aminah Hafizatullah; Yang Amat Mulia Tengku Puteri Raja Tengku Puteri Jihan Azizah 'Athiyatullah; Yang Amat Mulia Tengku Puteri Seri Kemala Tengku Hajah Dato' Aishah; and Yang Amat Mulia Tengku Puteri Seri Lela Manja Tengku Dato' Hajah Nong Fatimah.

Also in attendance were Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr.) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Minister of Home Affairs as Minister-in-Attendance, and Datin; and Yang Berhormat Dato' Saifuddin bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, and Datin.

Prior to the start of the Royal Banquet, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri exchanged gifts with His Majesty the the 16th Yang Di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia and Her Majesty the Raja Permaisuri Agong. The ceremony which was held at the Royal Lounge.

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, His Majesty the 16th Yang Di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia, Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri and Her Majesty the Raja Permaisuri Agong then proceeded to the Royal banqut Hall.

The Royal Banquet commenced with the national anthems of both countries.

Doa Selamat was read by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr.) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti.

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam then delivers a Titah highlighting the visit of the late Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al Musta'in Billah as the first the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia to visit Brunei Darussalam after it achieved independence in 1984, was the strong foundation that further strengthened relations between the two countries. His Majesty hopes the spirit of brotherhood and friendship will continue to flourish.

His Majesty also expresses appreciation to the Malaysian nationals in Brunei Darussalam who contribute to the country's socio-economic development.

In the reciprocal titah, His Majesty the 16th Yang Di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia greatly values the presentation of the State Decoration by His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

His Majesty also highlights relations between Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia have close historical links established since hundreds of year ago and have developed to cover various fields.

After the Royal Banquet, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri then proceeded to the main entrance of Istana Nurul Iman to bid farewell to His Majesty the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia and Her Majesty the Raja Permaisuri Agong. His Majesty the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia and Her Majesty the Raja Permaisuri Agong were on a 3-day State Visit to the country.
