In his Titah, the Monarch says the raise in the allowance is effective of 1st January 2019. His Majesty delivered the Titah during the Get-together with Citizens and Residents of Brunei Darussalam currently in the United Kingdom and Ireland as well as the conferment of the Universiti Brunei Darussalam Scholarship 'The Chancellor's Scholar'. The ceremony took place at the London Hilton on Park Lane in London. Highlighting that some students on Government Scholarships have refused to return home and serve their country, His Majesty urges the relevant parties to consider firm measures for action against such students in line with the agreement agreed when they received the scholarships. The Monarch stresses the students should return to the country to share the responsibility of nation building after completing their studies.
