His Majesty Took a Closer Look at the Third Setia Kawan Exercise and Amphibious Capability Demonstration

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Minister of Defence and Supreme Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, this morning took a closer look at the Combined Brunei-United Kingdom Third Setia Kawan Exercise and Amphibious Capability Demonstration. The exercise was held at two separate locations namely the the waters of Tutong and Binturan Shooting Range, involving the personnel of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, RBAF and British Armed Forces.

The at sea exercise involved the Royal British Navy vessel, HMS ALBION. Upon arrival at the HMS ALBION helipad, His Majesty was greeted by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Second Minister of Defence, Major General Pengiran Dato Paduka Seri Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, commander of the RBAF; His Excellency Richard Lindsay, High Commissioner of the United Kingdom to Brunei Darussalam and Vice Admiral Ben Key CBE, Fleet Commander of the Royal Navy, United Kingdom.

Accompanying His Majesty were His Royal Highness Prince General Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and General of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, and His Royal Highness 920 Captain (Udara) Prince 'Abdul Mateen.

At the HMS ALBION vessel, His Majesty visited the vessel's bridge.

In his briefing, Captain Tim Neild of the British Royal Navy, Captain of the HMS Albion among other matters talked about the vessel's functions and abilities as well as capabilities in contributing a number of massive roles and responsibilities for the British Royal Navy in carrying out several military missions.

The HMS ALBION made a goodwill visit to Brunei Darussalam on the 30th of April until the 2nd of May this year, and was also involved in an amphibious demonstration at Penanjong Garrison

His Majesty was then given a briefing on the personnel's preparedness in facing war aside from testing every personnel's capability in carrying out operations to eradicate enemy attacks and defend the country.

Brunei Darussalam and the United Kingdom enjoy a strong and longstanding defence relationship, covering various interactions such as exchange of visits, defence and military meetings, as well as military exercises, trainings, and courses.

At the vehicle deck, His Majesty witnessed an exercise demonstration by both armed forces. The demonstration portrays the efficiency of the RBAF in shouldering their duties and responsibilities as a military in tackling a current era that is challenging, ever-changing and hard to predict.

During the exercise, the RBAF personnel were deployed overnight at the vessel to carry out exercises and demonstrations.

After viewing the demonstration, His Majesty and his sons, left the HMS ALBION using a Royal Brunei Air Force Black Hawk S70i heading to Binturan Shooting Range, Penanjong Garrison to watch the land exercise.
