His Majesty Visit

After presenting the land grants and house keys, His Majesty proceeded to visit several education institutions, an aquaculture company and the Senior Citizen Activity Centre in Tutong District. His Majesty also stopped by the residence of Kampung Penabai and Kuala Tutong Village Chief as well as several houses of land grant and house key recipients.

The Tutong Sixth Form Centre was the first destination of His Majesty’s visit. Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by Yang Berhormat Datin Seri Paduka Doctor Dayang Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd. Salleh, Minister of Education. Operating since early 2012, the Tutong Sixth Form Centre has a vision of becoming an institution of excellent scholars. During His Majesty’s visit, several activities were held to highlight the centre’s progress.

The Monarch also took a closer look at the art and design gallery that showcases the student’s works. For the students, the opportunity to interact with His Majesty can encourage them to continue striving for success in their studies. Currently, the centre has nearly 300 students.

On the way to the Bukit Beruang National Housing Scheme, His Majesty made a stop at Sayyidina Othman Secondary School. The unexpected visit will surely become a sweet memory for the school’s students and teachers. Sayyidina Othman Secondary School is the only school in Tutong District that has a building specifically for special needs secondary school students.

The highly anticipated moment was when the Monarch visited the houses of several house key recipients under the Bukit Beruang National Housing Scheme. With a floor area of 85.9 square meter, the terrace house is equipped with 3 bedrooms, a living room, bathroom and kitchen.

Happiness was clearly seen on the faces of the recipients while greeting His Majesty’s arrival, reflecting the people’s love towards the people’s monarch. The government is constantly reviewing policies and plans in safeguarding the citizens and residents’ well-being so it can be enjoyed for generations to come. From over 30 thousand houses built under the National Housing Scheme, RPN and the Skim Tanah Kurnia Rakyat Jati, STKRJ nationwide, 2,746 people were successful applicants of RPN in Tutong District.

His Majesty then made a visit to Golden Corporation Sendirian Berhad located in Kampung Penyatang, Mukim Telisai. His Majesty was greeted upon arrival by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Paduka Doctor Awang Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism, and Richard Chuang Hsi Shan, managing director of Golden Corporation Sendirian Berhad.

With an investment of over 30 million dollars, Golden Corporation Sendirian Berhad has three shrimp rearing farms with an area of over 267 hectares, as well as three fish and shrimp processing centres. Out of 367 employees, over 200 are local. His Majesty then released baby shrimps into the rearing pond.

The Monarch continued the visit to the residence of a land grant recipient under the Temporary Occupation License Scheme, Pengiran Mahmud bin Pengiran Bungsu in Kampung Kandang. His Majesty’s attentiveness towards the people’s welfare was clear when Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah provided assistance in repairing Pengiran Mahmud’s home.

The land grant under the Temporary Occupation License Scheme ensures the recipients can continue living more comfortably. Kampung Penabai and Kampung Kuala Tutong has an area of approximately 2.14 square kilometre with over one thousand residents.

The Mukim and Kampung Consultative Institution and the leadership of penghulu and village chiefs also came under the scrutiny of His Majesty when the Monarch stopped by the residence of Awang Mohammad Sofiyuddin bin Mohammad Serudin, Village Chief of Kampung Penabai and Kuala Tutong.

Prior to visiting the Senior Citizen Activity Centre, His Majesty stopped by Dayang Hajah Naimah binti Haji Dollah’s residence in Kampung Penabai. Dayang Hajah Naimah is a recipient of the Mental Disorder Allowance from Department of Community Development, JAPEM and assistance from the Brunei Islamic Religious Council, MUIB.

Upon arriving at the Tutong Senior Citizen Activity Centre, His Majesty was greeted by Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports. The Monarch then took a closer look at some of the activities carried out by the senior citizens.

The centre’s establishment acts as a platform for senior citizens to share their experience and encourage involvement as well as cooperation of various parties.

His Majesty ended the visit with a Luncheon at the Tutong District Civic Centre Hall. The Monarch’s visit shows His Majesty’s aspiration to see more citizens and residents’ desire of owning a house or land come true, and at the same time improve the people’s quality of life.
