His Majesty’s Visit

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday morning visited the Brunei International Airport in Berakas.

Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohammad Yusof, the Minister of Transport and Infocommunications. Shortly after the arrival, the Monarch inspected the facilities available at the Sky Lounge which included a Meeting room.

His Majesty then held a discussion with Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Mutalib, the Minister of Transport and Infocommunications; Awang Haji Nazri bin Haji Mohd Yusof, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunicatons and Awang Haji Mohd Salleh bin Haji Karim, Acting Director General of Public Works.

At the departure hall, His Majesty toured Restoran Tarindak Ungkayah Graduan or Tarindak by Graduates Restaurant which began operations in January this year. Since starting its operations, the restaurant has been receiving encouraging response from the public.

The Monarch then proceeded to Anjung Saujana Restaurant, a subsidiary of Royal Brunei Catering, RBC, which is located near Tarindak by Graduates Restaurant.

His Majesty also visited the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf Restaurant and received Junjung Ziarah from the restaurant's staff.

Since starting its operations in 1974, the Brunei International Airport has undergone changes and developments, besides playing an important role in the country's economic growth. It is also one of the country's major gateways for tourists. His Majesty's visit was not only to ensure the airport public facilities fulfil the needs of its clients but also to ascertain that they conform to the specified standards for the well-being and safety of passengers. In this regard, a major agenda of His Majesty's Government is to address and solve matters that affect the smooth running of the Brunei International Airport and passenger comfort.
