His Royal Highness Departure

His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah binti Pengiran Haji Salleh Ab. Rahaman, yesterday afternoon left the Republic of Singapore after concluding the 8th Young Leaders’ Programme held from the 3rd to 5th of August 2022. Accompanying His Royal Highness and Her Royal Highness were Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Anak Muneerah Madhul Bolkiah; Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Muda Muhammad Aiman and Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Anak Faathimah Az-Zahraa’ Raihaanul Bolkiah.

Prior to departure, Doa Selamat was read by Yang Dimuliakan Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Haji Awang Hamidon bin Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Hamid.

Present at the VIP Complex, Changi International Airport to bid farewell were His Excellency Dr. Mohamad Maliki Osman, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister for Education and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs as Minister-in-Attendance; and Madam Saadiah Shahal as Lady-in-Attendance. Also present were His Excellency Dato Paduka Haji Sidek bin Ali, High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam to the Republic of Singapore; His Excellency Heng Aik Yeow, High Commissioner of the Republic of Singapore to Brunei Darussalam as well as their respective spouses.

During the 8th edition of the programme, His Royal Highness’ meetings with Her Excellency the President and His Excellency the Prime Minister including several cabinet ministers from the Republic of Singapore resulted in successful outcomes through a series of information sharing sessions that emphasised three main areas namely education, civil service and defence.

Matters that were agreed upon, among others, were to introduce scholarships for excellent students from Brunei Darussalam to pursue their studies at the secondary level to higher education in the Republic; to establish a training program for civil servants from Brunei Darussalam through work placements in government agencies of the Republic of Singapore; and knowledge sharing on technological developments and Whole of Government, WOG, approaches to strengthen maritime and regional security.

Their Royal Highnesses’ visit to the Republic of Singapore also further strengthened and enhanced the long-standing and special bilateral relations between the two friendly nations.
