The collaboration between Institute Brunei Technical Education, IBTE and private companies provides an avenue for technical and vocational students to acquire relevant industry experience and training making them more employable upon completion of their studies. To further strengthen this collaboration, IBTE this morning signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MOU with three telecommunications companies.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by Awang Haji Shariful Bahri bin Haji Sawas, the Acting Deputy Commissioner of Labour. Signing on behalf of IBTE was Dayang Munirah Atirah binti Dato Paduka Haji Othman, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Corporate IBTE. Representing DST Communications Sdn Bhd was Dayang Ramlah binti Haji Rabaha, Assistant General Manager, DST Group Human Resources while Telekom Brunei Berhad, TelBru was represented by Mr David J Holliday, its Chief Executive Officer. Mr Paul Treston Taylor, Chief Executive Officer of Progresif Cellular Sdn Bhd signed on behalf of the company. 14 IBTE students will be undergoing the HNTec Apprenticeship Scheme programme for Telecommunications and Information Technology with the 3 companies. The programme will become a platform for students to maximise their learning experience and apply theory to practice in a real working environment in line with the programme's requirements in providing on-the-job training.
