The Ignite Entrepreneurship Challenge 2015 was launched yesterday during a briefing session with members of the media at the Design and Technology Building, Anggerek Desa Tech Park.
Into its 8th year, the IGNITE Entrepreneurship Challenge is a business plan competition geared towards the development of entrepreneurship in the field of Information and Communications Technology, technology as well as the creation of new innovative ideas that solve globally applicable problems.
IGNITE is an annual competition which seeks to identify promising entrepreneurs in ICT and technology, who would subsequently be further developed in the Incubation program organized by BEDB and the iCentre.
In a slight format change, this year’s competition features only two categories, namely the Open Category and International Category.
In the Open Category, participation is welcomed from all members of the public, including companies and government servants, as well as students from Sixth Form Centres, Pre-University and Tertiary Colleges, as well as Institutes of Higher Learning who are citizens or Permanent Residents of Brunei Darussalam.
The International Category, meanwhile, is open to foreign citizens and green IC holders of Brunei Darussalam, who are at least 18 years of age.
The Open Category carries cash prizes valued at BND$25,000, BND$15,000 and BND$10,000 for the first, second and third place respectively. The International Category’s first prize is BND$10,0000.
In an effort to promote and facilitate public participation, BEDB would conduct a series of workshops and mentoring sessions in the coming weeks, which would begin with an “Orientation for Ignite and Idea Validation” Workshop on 18 – 20 September 2015.
In addition, BEDB welcomes interested individuals and teams to approach BEDB or the iCentre, if they have ideas and proposals for further refinement. The closing date for all participants to submit their executive summaries is Monday, 28 September 2015.
