Increase Production Continuously

The Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism will ensure that paddy, vegetable, and fruit produce operators as well as chicken, cows and goat livestock operators as well as fishermen and fish and prawn breeders will continue to increase their production in order to accommodate a major part of local demand as well as for the purpose of export. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Apong, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism explained on the food security agenda’s FIRST STRATEGY during the media conference.

Yang Berhormat said that local paddy production has increased from 2,429 metric tonnes in 2016 to 3,864 metric tonnes in 2020. Broiler chicken production increased from 24,452 metric tonnes in 2016 to 26 thousand metric tonnes in 2020. Chicken eggs production increased from 142 million in 2016 to 172 million in 2020. Beef production has increased from 1,729 metric tonnes in 2016 to 2,149 metric tonnes in 2020. Meanwhile, fishing and aquaculture produce have increased from 15,215 metric tonnes in 2016 to 16,575 metric tonnes in 2020. In general, the country has achieved self-sufficiency of up to 8 percent for rice supply, 67 percent for tropical vegetables, 46 percent for tropical fruits, 100 percent for broiler chicken and chicken eggs supply, and 81 percent for fish supply.
