Installation Ceremony of the 16th Yang Di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam, yesterday morning attended the Installation Ceremony of His Majesty Seri Paduka Baginda Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta'in Billah, the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia, held at the Balairung Seri, Istana Negara, Kuala Lumpur. Accompanying His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri were Her Royal Highness Princess Fadzilah Lubabul Bolkiah; Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz bin Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar.

Upon arriving at the Anjung Tamu, Istana Negara, His Majesty and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri were greeted by Yang Berhormat Datuk Seri Dr. Mujahid bin Yusof Rawa, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department of Malaysia; and Yang Berbahagia Dato' Haji Hasnol Zam Zam bin Haji Ahmad, Senior Deputy Secretary General of the Prime Minister's Department as Chairman of Official Government Ceremonies.

Soon after arrival, Their Majesties were invited to the Seri Maharaja Hall. From the Seri Maharaja Hall, His Majesty and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri then proceeded to the Balairung Seri to attend the Installation Ceremony, which was also attended by Their Royal Highnesses the Raja-Raja and the Raja-Raja Permaisuri; royal family members; Their Excellences Yang Di-Pertua Negeri; Yang Amat Berhormat the Prime Minister of Malaysia; and other distinguished guests.

The Installation Ceremony commenced with the arrival of His Majesty Seri Paduka Baginda the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia and Her Majesty the Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah binti Al-Marhum Al-Mutawakkil Alallah Sultan Iskandar Al-Haj to the Balairung Seri, with the accompaniment of the Nobat "Raja Berangkat".

During the Installation Ceremony, His Majesty Seri Paduka Baginda the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia received the Al-Qur'an and the Keris Panjang Diraja or the Government Keris, which were presented by Yang Berusaha Encik Azuan Effendy bin Zairakithnaini, the Grand Chamberlain. The Proclamation of the Installation of His Majesty was read by Yang Amat Berhormat Tun Dato Laila Utama Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad, the Prime Minister of Malaysia, for His Majesty to ascend the throne of the Malaysian Government.

His Majesty Seri Paduka Baginda the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia then delivered a titah, in which His Majesty expressed his appreciation to and welcomed His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri to the Installation Ceremony. His Majesty described the presence of Their Majesties as a manifestation of the warm and close brotherly ties between Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam.

The Installation Ceremony concluded with a Doa Selamat recited by Yang Berbahagia Dato' Ustaz Abdul Aziz bin Che Yacob, Religious Officer at the Istana Negara.

At the end of the Installation Ceremony, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri then proceeded to the Seri Maharaja Hall for a group photo with His Majesty Seri Paduka Baginda the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia and Her Majesty the Raja Permaisuri Agong, as well as other royal and distinguished guests, before leaving Istana Negara.
