‘Teromba’ or traditional Malay poetry in Malay weddings was among the matters tabled at the 11th International Congress of Malay Language, Literature and Culture Series, KABSM. The richness of Malay culture and tradition in the aspect of literature was deliberated during the virtual congress that was organised by the Language and Literature Bureau through the Language Construction and Development Division yesterday morning.
Over 140 people took part in the congress, including Pengiran Haji Mohd Hasnan bin Pengiran Haji Ali Hassan, Permanent Secretary for Strategy and Policy Management, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. ‘Teromba’ is used in Malay weddings, where old Malay poetry is used to show polite manners in communication. The congress gathers local and overseas linguists, literature and culture experts for sharing of knowledge and ideas through knowledge, experience and expertise dynamics.
