Organising the International Congress of the Malay Language, Literature and Culture Series, KABSBM is the best platform to achieve the goal of perpetually maintaining the integrity of the Malay language, literature and culture. With the theme 'Bahasa Jiwa Bangsa', the theme emphasised the importance of language as the soul of the nation which at the same time illustrates that the three elements namely language, culture and race are not separated. Yang Berhormat Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports stated the matter at the virtual launching of the International Congress of the Malay Language, Literature and Culture Series yesterday morning in conjunction with the Language Month.
Yang Berhormat said the Malay language, literature and culture are not dissociated from the universal, spiritual, humanitarian, and societal elements in shaping people's life. To realise this goal, Yang Berhormat stressed the need for the elements to be inline with the world's technological advancement such as utilising the Industrial Revolution 4.0 platform as an added value variation in the efforts to highlight and elevate the status of Malay language, literature and culture.
Professor Doctor Haji Awang Asbol bin Haji Mail from Universiti Brunei Darussalam in a keynote address while tabling a working paper titled 'Memartabatkan Bahasa Melayu Sebagai Bahasa Kebangsaan, 1930 – 2008: Kajian Perbandingan Brunei dan Malaysia' highlighted the challenges of globalisation faced by Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia in the efforts to elevate the Malay language as the official language as the use of English language became more prevalent during the research period.
