As a dynamic and progressive scholar, Al-Azhariun plays an active and pro-active roles in current and future social issues. The Minister of Religious Affairs as Chairman of the Board of Advisory for Rabitah International Alumni of Al-Azhar Brunei Darussalam, said the current method and pattern of religious services need to be continuously updated which requires a new approach for its effectiveness. Speaking during the virtual Doa Kesyukuran Ceremony in conjunction with International Day of Al-Azhar As-Syarif yesterday afternoon, Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman stressed that Al-Azhariun need to be prepared and take benefits from technological advancement. The youth and women are also encouraged to take a role in shaping the future.

Over 80 alumni of Al-Azhar University took part in the online event held to express gratitude for the establishment of Al-Azhar Al-Syarif University that has produced a large number of Islamic scholars and intellectual in the country. Also taking part in the event were Yang Berhomat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti and Yang Berhormat Pehin Jawatan Luar Pekerma Raja Dato Seri Utama Doctor Haji Md. Zain bin Haji Serudin as Patron of Rabitah.
