International Multaqa Ulamak Ahli Sunnah Wal-Jamaah

To date, Brunei Darussalam have yet to face threats by extremists and religious deviation such as Khawarij and Musyabbihah. Many factors can be assumed as to why Brunei Darussala is safe from the said threats. Among them, Brunei places Islam as the official religion according to the Ahli Sunnah Wal Jama’ah and Mazhab Syafi’i, whihc was stated in the constitution.

Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, State Mufti stated the matter while tabling a working paper titled ‘Bahaya Golongan Musyabbihah Alaf Baru dan Khawarij Moden: Peranan Mufti Dan Ulama’ Ahli Sunnah Wal Jama’ah Mendepani Golongan Takfiri’ at the International Multaqa Ulamak Ahli Sunnah Wal-Jamaah 2022 that was virtually held yesterday MORNING.

The State Mufti said it was proven that the said policy has enabled Brunei Darussalam to enjoy stability, either in religious life or nationhood in general. Yang Berhormat added the role of Mufti in facing challenges of religious extremists can be detected through fatwa issued from the past until today. The objective of the multaqa was to highlight academics of Islamic faith education within the country and overseas. This is by discussing current issues pertaining to faith and heresy as well as its effects to local and international religious education so that it can become input for beneficial knowledge integration.
